Responsibilities
The King George County Service Authority was established in 1992 by order of the King George County Board of Supervisors to manage the water, waste water, and solid waste functions within the County of King George, Virginia. The Authority receives no tax support from the County, nor residents. The Authority operates on the revenues collected from billing for service and connection fees. There is a County payment for some capital debt, however, that is provided by the landfill receipts, and not taxes.
Hours of Operation
The Service Authority Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. To report any issue during these hours, including making application for service, leaks, complaints, or requests for repairs, etc., please call our main telephone number 540-775-2746. After hour emergencies may be reported to the Sheriff’s Office, 24 hour dispatch center at 540-775-2049. Our "On Call" technicians will immediately be dispatched to your emergency. Any billing questions can be directed to MuniBilling at 1-877-210-9274.
Meetings
The Service Authority operates under the direction of a separate 5 member Board of Directors, meeting on the first and third Tuesday of every month. The Board Meetings are held in the Administration's Revercomb Building Board Room at 5:30 p.m. local time, and the public is cordially invited to participate during our open session. The public is invited to discuss any topic of concern they may have, to provide recommendations or complaints, or suggest areas that require additional utility coverage. We welcome your input and will respond to any suggestion(s) you may have.
Department Structure
The Service Authority is composed of 28 staff persons divided into 3 Departments. The Departments are Waste Water Management, Water Operations, and Utilities Maintenance. Each Department is headed by a Manager whose responsibility it is to oversee the effective operation of waste water plants, water systems, and utility repairs. Each Manager reports directly to the Interim General Manager (Mr. Christopher Miller), and as the name implies, Mr. Miller is totally responsible for all daily operations within the Authority.
Operations
The Service Authority currently operates 5 waste water treatment plants in 5 different service areas. The total combined daily processing capacity of waste water for the County is about 1,835,000 gallons per day. Our 12 well driven water systems produce over 750,000 gallons of fresh water each day. These systems are interconnected with distribution systems employing over 450 miles of pipe.
